1. Project Overview

Overview

Google Docs' share feature was cumbersome to use. Editing sharing capabilities for what is supposed to be a collaborative word document was unintuitive on the mobile app. In an effort to streamline the task, we identified usability issues holding it back and tested out various redesigns.

My Contributions

  • Created the usability testing for round 1 of user testing
  • Conducted 2 out of the 4 user testing during round 1 of testing
  • Affinity diagrammed and categorized discovered usability errors
  • Mocked up a high fidelity interactive Figma prototype (Tab Redesign)
  • Tested the prototype with 2 out of the 4 users during round 2 of testing

Usability Issues Found

  1. Flexibility and efficiency of use: Difficulty sending multiple share invites with differing editing capabilities
  2. Flexibility and efficiency of use: Link Sharing Took Too Many Steps
  3. Recognition rather than recall: Visibility of Collaborators’ Editing Capabilities
